    Long Time No Post...
I haven't touched my LJ for a long time since Sir Kenneth told us of our last posts for the first sem.

Well, I don't want my LJ to rot here, do I?

So anyways, my "main" blog is here: http://hunkyearvin.blogspot.com . I update a lot there often. :D

    Wrath of Fury
Typhoon Milenyo ravaged across Metro Manila and some provinces in the north and the south like an unstoppable tide, leaving behind a wake of destruction, gloom, and boredom amongst the innocent citizens.

Last Thursday, the rain was so heavy and winds were going as fast as 200 kph! The typhoon made sure no one dared to venture outside their houses. Even the reception of cell phones was lost. Some say the cell sites were damaged. As Milenyo left Manila last Friday, trees were uprooted and electric posts and billboards were tumbled down. The damage was so large that even if the day was sunny, work and classes had to be suspended!

Here at my place, when it is hot, it is hot. And without electricity to fuel the electric fans or power up the computer and TV, it was very boring here and all I could do was eat, sleep, and play with Chestnut. And man, is it so boring…

It did not stop there. Yesterday, water supplies started to deplete as well since we could not pump water in.

MU and her family even had to go sleep at her grandpa’s house where there was electricity already then.

Mom and I went to my Uncle Anson’s place yesterday. There was already a steady supply of electricity two days ago I think, so we were able to use his WiFi and I was able to play the piano…with the soothing breeze of the electric fan blowing at me.

We were so fed up with the blackout here that Dad decided that we just go somewhere to have some fun. We went to MOA last Friday (when rain started to fall and traffic was bad) where I finished a game of Time Crisis 4 at Timezone and my parents had coffee.

When Dad and I came home from Golden Fortune yesterday at around midnight, I thought it would be another hot night...until the electric fan we forgot to turn off last Thursday suddenly came back to life! I was so happy! Finally, we were back to normal lives.

Now that the electricity is back, it's time to do some assignments and study for long tests!

Wish MU a great performance tomorrow at Teachers' Day Program! I wish I could watch her perform on stage....

And then AC said, "Let there be light!" And there was light... --"The Last Question" by Isaac Aminov

    I’m in love…

Yup, that’s right. But that did not happen all instantaneously. It started early this year, as acquaintances, developing later into a close friendship. And because of a certain event, we got even closer to each other. As time passed, we got to know each other more and shared some laughs, until…

…there came that day, more than a week ago, when I realized that I am in love with her…and she slowly felt the exact same thing.

And we sorta “exchanged vows” last Thursday, saying that if this goes on smoothly, and if our hearts “have more than a hundred percent occupancy of each other, then let’s meet at the altar.” Yup, we are now more than close friends – we are in mutual understanding (MU).

I will share more stuff next time. For now, all I can say is that she’s so sweet and cool, and that only my closest friends and some blockmates know her face and/or name. I don’t think she would want her name posted in my blog; maybe next time. :D

…I’ve never felt this way before, yes I swear, all of my life…

    Busy
Let's see...It's been such a busy week for me, especially with all the paperwork in English, Lit, and homework in all the other subjects (not to mention our AMC midterms which was...fairly easy).

Saint Jude life was really nothing compared to the Ateneo life. Well, sure the Chinese subjects were a reason to study hard (Chinese subjects were not that hard actually; it's just that most students are lazy to study it), but the load is light, and almost everyone can cope with the teachers. Here, it's a lot different. Doc Mara's students are already beginning to read their books everyday and study well (which was way opposite of when we were in high school); there are a lot of paperwork and other assignments; and the good thing, lots of activities and orgs.

I really miss my alma mater. There are just lots of memories within that walls. Even if I go there every Saturday (and sometimes every Tuesday, after class), I still miss the people there. I told the principal about it, and he agrees about the missing part.

Oh well...I gotta go...YM is not functioning well. I must restart my computer.

    Weekend Post
Hello. Got home at around 9. We went to celebrate mom's birthday with relatives on both sides: Lunch with the Go clan at Fish and Company and dinner with the Chua clan at my maternal grandparents' house.

Not only that, Chestnut gets to be groomed for the first time! Man he looks a lot better compared with before. His fur is much softer too!

I like the weekends. Not only do I get to visit my alma mater (which is just a ten to fifteen-minute walk away from here) but I get to rest from the hassles of Ateneo too. Of course I still do my homework but I can do them as lesurely as I can.

Now, I almost need to go. If I still have the energy, I might continue working on my English feature article and Filipino analysis paper.

    Field Trips...Hehe
Last Thursday, because we had to watch Ang Aksidenteng Kamatayan ng Isang Anarkista , the block had to wait for more than five hours after our class at 1:30. After "practicing" for our dance for the upcoming Sagala ng mag Sikat , we decided to hang out at Eastwood for the rest of the afternoon!

Supposedly we were supposed to watch a movie, but we wouldn't make it back to ADMU in time for the play if we watched, so we just played billiards.

Yes...Still have the hang of it, and those backspins are starting to kick up. :D

The play was hilarious by the way, that almost everytime the whole audience was laughing! Too bad we have to submit an analysis paper on that play for Fil in a week or so.

Anyway, yesterday, aside from going back to Saint Jude (again) for the Mass, my groupmates in English and I went to Binondo for our feature article. It has been a long time since I went back to that place, though I think nothing had changed.

After the "tour" around Binondo, I realized that some shopkeepers are not that friendly. I mean, I (my groupmates don't talk Chinese) politely ask for a photo of the merchandise (Chinese medicine, novelty items...) and they would either say "No" in a not-so-polite way or, for the more polite ones, just suggest a better place for us to go take pictures (because they want to make us leave). Well, when we rode the caleza, they had nothing to do when I kept on taking photos from the moving carriage. Hahaha.

So then I went straight to Saint Jude for the Mass with some former classmates and friends, and after talking with some teachers and visiting some younger friends in high school, we went straight to play DotA! Man I miss playing that game. Yeah, so I had the worst stats there, with only one kill (in both games) and more than five deaths I think.

I need to do my feature article and write some recoletters for fourth-year friends soon. Ciao ...

    SJCSAA Badminton Tournament
I almost forgot to post again! Anyway I have a lot to write about so I need not worry.

Today was the 4th SJCSAA (Saint Jude Catholic School Alumni Association) Badminton Tournament. Well, it was a hasty decision for me whether to join or not since I was worried that there would be a lot of homework, but then I knew later that there would be no classes tomorrow! So I joined, and dad is my partner.

We barely had two weeks to practice, but with the hectic schedules in the Ateneo, we were only able to practice for a total of three or four nights. I haven't played for a long time...The last time was around summer? And that was not "real" badminton. It was just for fun.

We had to wake up at around 6:30 just to prepare and arrive at Court Zone early. (Parking is a big problem there.) Well, a lot of people were already there when we arrived, practicing their smashes and drops.

I don't have to bore you with every game I played, do I? All I can say is that at the first few games, I was not in tip-top shape and my play was not so good...in layman's terms, I made "give away" shots to my opponents. But during the last game (where the opponents were very good), I somehow had an adrenaline rush and I started to run more quickly and smash more powerfully! It should have been the thought of my friends who supported me all this time.

It was a 1-3 win-loss ratio by the way. We won a game because one of our opponents suddenly had cramps and couldn't play anymore, thus being defaulted.

Even if we did not win, I enjoyed the games. I mean, I know a lot of the people there and I get to experience how to play the game more fast-paced, unlike before and in previous tournaments. And I'm contented with my last game with the adrenaline rush, and scored the most points and "killed" the most shots in all the sets. And to think that they were the hardest opponets huh.

Now I'm a little tired. I need to rest. I'll be going back to Saint Jude tomorrow to watch the Induction Rites. Ciao...

    No Classes Again!
I almost forgot my journal entry for this week...

Since yesterday, rain has been pouring hard. And this afternoon, it really poured very heavily all around Metro Manila.

As of 9:24 PM tonight, the President declared no classes on all levels...

    ...

    ...

    ... NO CLASSES TOMORROW!!!

Well this will really give a lot of time to cope up with homework. I forgot to bring my Filipino book home when we had a scheduled quiz for tomorrow.

Eight sentences already! I gotta go continue watching CSI: Miami.

    Rain, Rain...DON'T Go Away
...And I thought it would be a long weekend...

Classes were suspended today due to tropical storm Florita. At least this earned us hardworking and tired students a rest. And I was fully enjoying the day until...

...Alvin and later Kaira told me that classes resume tomorrow.

My classmates in Fil11 and I had to cram for the concept paper for the upcoming Sagala ng mga Sikat this coming August! Good thing it's finally done.

I want to watch the Miting de Avance at Saint Jude! Well, it was supposed to be moved to Saturday because supposedly, there would be no classes tomorrow. But now, I could not be able to support Jarische, Audrey, and other friends. Oh well...Guess it's back to the traditional Saturday Mass...

Having classes tomorrow is not that bad I guess. I get to see my results in the Math LT last Tuesday. But aside from that? Nothing more!

I don't feel well. Something just struck me this afternoon. Don't worry...It's no biggie...

    Judgement Day...
We had our long test in Calculus today (or technically, yesterday). Doc Mara was even like "This is the shortest long test that I've given for the past how many years." Even so, it's still a long test! Six items (some with sub-items) worth 100 points in an hour and a half -- that is such a brain buster!

I didn't do my best, but I guess I did well too. I was able to answer a lot of the questions, and I was careful not to make any careless mistakes (which I did, but I realized I did while rechecking the problems).

When I told Alvin my answer on number three, he said I was wrong. The function is differentiable at two and there are values for a and b, but I showed otherwise...Goodbye, ten points!

I'll see later this noon how I fared. I hope I get a C or above.

    Tired...
Wow! Today was such a tiring day. In our PE class, we did the sit-ups, push-ups and the one-mile run! I think my performance was not all that bad. It was really hard catching my breath while running along the sidewalks!

It seemed like she was catching up on something before PE class. She wasn't smiling like the usual and she did not have time to stay for a short chat before my class. It must have been the math diagnostic test held just a few hours ago. But I am sure she can handle it. She's a Judenite!

Anyway, I have to go and study for my different subjects and read those stories for Lit. I flunked the English quiz a while ago, and I read the selection! Darn it...

    First Post...Again

For everyone's information, this is my third blog. It is a requirement of our English teacher for his students to write a journal every week, and he requests Livejournal for online journals. (I better be more careful and strict with my grammar and be more organized with my sentences!) My Blogspot is still up so don't forget to go there!

It has been two weeks (three, including the OrSem week) since I stayed in the Ateneo. To me, I am beginning to feel the differences evolving in college life: running around the campus to catch the next class and to do some errands, writing very fast to complete my notes, listening to fast-paced math lectures...And of course how could I forget the new environment, new groups of friends, and the new way of life?

I am slowly transisting to the Ateneo way of life. Professors give a lot of homework with short deadlines and they don't care much if there are other subjects conflicting the student's time. I have to go to different buildings to visit the different offices to buy books, claim my ID, and pay for fees. In my case, not only must I walk to school; I have to endure the hassles of riding the LRT and the tricycle to Ateneo. Guess things are not the way they used to be back at Saint Jude, aren't they?

You know, I along with several other batchmates visited our alma mater yesterday to attend Mass and to visit the teachers. It was happy really being able to go back with friends, seeing our teachers, smiling seeing that we've come back. And yes, it was good to see our Chinese teachers too! It will be sad not having Chinese classes anymore. It really felt good to step upon the place that molded me to survive the rigors of college.

That is why I wish that I could always go back there and relive those memories, both good and bad. I will never forget all of them. And even after my two-year stay there after five years, I don't think that is enough to repay Saint Jude back.

I am a Judenite, and I'm proud to be one...
